Aston Villa hope to extend their perfect start to their Europa League campaign and will be boosted by a recent update on the upcoming opposition, Go Ahead Eagles.

Villa have defeated both Bologna and Feyenoord in their upcoming matches, 1-0 and 2-0 respectively, and will now travel to the De Adelaarshorst Stadium on Thursday (October 23).

European competition has been more bountiful for the club than its domestic campaign, during which the Villans had their worst start to a Premier League season in more than 25 years.

They will also be boosted by the news that Go Ahead Eagles' striker Victor Edvardsen is set to miss their fixture after the club confirmed he will miss 'a few weeks'.

"Go Ahead Eagles will be without Victor Edvardsen for the next few weeks," an official statement confirmed, adding that "the Swede needs surgery and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks."

The nature of Edvardsen's injury was not mentioned, though the 29-year-old last featured for the Eredivisie side in their Europa League loss to FCSB in September.

Dutch news outlet De Stentor has claimed the striker was expected to return last week, "but suffered a setback", adding he will undergo knee surgery on Wednesday.
