A look at the latest injury news surrounding Chelsea and Ajax as they prepare to face off in the Champions League.

Chelsea are back in Champions League action on Wednesday when they take on Ajax. The Blues picked up another big Premier League win over the weekend and will be hoping to get their second win of the Champions League campaign here having won once and lost once so far.

Ajax have lost both games so far and could find themselves in real trouble if they fail to pick up any points here. Ahead of the game, we have rounded up the injury news surrounding both teams, and keep in mind that those who are not registered in Champions League squads have not been included in the final count.

Owen Wijndal - Doubt

Wijndal is expected back soon from his injury but will be a doubt here.

Kasper Dolberg - Doubt

Dolberg has an abdominal injury and is expected to miss out, but he has not been confirmed as absent.

Branco van den Boomen - Out

Van den Boomen will remain out having had surgery in late May.

Benoit Badiashile - Out

In a fresh blow, Badiashile has suffered a fresh setback. Maresca has said: “Benoit will be out until December. He is injured again with a muscle problem. He was doing fantastic, showing how good he is, and we will wait for him.”

Enzo Fernandez - Doubt

The midfielder missed the weekend’s game with a knee injury and will remain a doubt here. Maresca said on Tuesday: “Enzo took part in the session yesterday, we have one more session and we will see what we do tomorrow. It’s not something to be worried about but we just have to protect Enzo.”

Liam Delap - Out

Maresca said of Delap in mid-September: “Liam is around 10-12 weeks, so a long way to go.” Delap is likely to be back at some point in November.

Cole Palmer - Out

Maresca confirmed recently that Palmer will be kept on the sidelines for a couple of weeks as a precaution. Since then, it has been reported that Palmer has suffered a setback that will keep him out until some time in November.

Levi Colwill - Out (Not UCL-eligible)

Colwill has been ruled out for much of the season after an ACL injury. Maresca said shortly after the injury: “He is ok, aware he will be out for a long time. It’s a big loss for us. You know how important Levi has been for us last season and the way we want to play. We have said many times that we are able to create chances and attack if we’re able to build up the right way, and Levi was a huge part of our build-up.”

Dario Essugo - Out (Not UCL-eligible)

Essugo has undergone surgery and will miss around four months of action. A club statement read: “Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action, and Dario will now begin his recovery at Cobham, supported by the club's medical department.” He is expected back near the new year.

Myhailo Mudryk - Out (Not UCL-eligible)

Mudryk remains suspended due to alleged doping. A statement at the time read: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA's Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
