It was the last game for West Ham designated police officer Andy Sheldon last night at the London Stadium.
The Metropolitain police constable and self-confessed Everton fan has been attached to West Ham since 2009 and was present at the infamous Carabao Cup match between West Ham and Millwall in August of his first year in charge.
Now after 16 years attached to West Ham, he is stepping down from his role to take up a similar role for the England national team.
Taking over the designated police officer is constable Stu May who was present last night with Sheldon as he handed over the reins.
Writing on his Twitter(X) account [@MPSWestHamUtdFC](https://x.com/MPSWestHamUtdFC) Sheldon wrote:
_“Well after 16 and a bit years as the West Ham and London Stadium dedicated football officer. The time has come to hand over the Baton to someone new…… I have been privileged to have had held this role and have met fantastic supporters up and down the country._ Many memories and friends for life met along the way. _I hope that I leave football policing in a better place than when I started and have helped dispel pre conceptions of West Ham fans. Cheers. Andy”_
