The Denver Broncos have some of the best throwback threads in the NFL, a tribute to the 1977 squad that boasted one of the best defenses in franchise history and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. Last season, the organization unveiled the special uniform and won both games they repped them in.
Through seven weeks, the Broncos have yet to break these fan-favorite threads out, but that will soon change, as the team announced on Monday that Broncos Country would get to see the uniforms on three separate occasions throughout the rest of the season.

These uniforms will be on display this week when the Cowboys come to town, in Week 10 when the Raiders play here on a Thursday night, and to end the season in Week 18 when Justin Herbert and the Chargers take the field in Denver. All three will be home games, as the team doesn’t yet have a white “away” variation of the uniform that they can wear on the road.
These uniforms were first broken out in a Week 5 win over the Raiders in which Pat Surtain II had an iconic pick-six to turn the tide of the ballgame. They were stored in the closet all the way until the final regular season game in which they handled their business against the Chiefs’ JV squad.
Denver’s defense is sure playing like it’s 1977 to start the season. The pass rush has been the NFL’s best while the unit as a whole has had a collection of strong showings to lead the team to a 5-2 record. They’ve had some shaky moments, like letting up 32 points in Sunday’s miraculous comeback over the New York Giants, but for the most part, that group has been stout.
This year’s Broncos squad is off to a 5-2 start and have sole possession of first place in the AFC West for the first time since Week 4 in the 2016 season. They’re looking to do a lot of the same things that the ’77 team did, except for bringing home a Lombardi Trophy on top of the Conference Championship.
