Dyche Appointment Adds to West Ham’s Relegation Fears

West Ham’s stint at the bottom of the Premier League felt a little more likely today following the decision by Nottingham Forest to appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager.

Not that there’s anything spectacular about the former [Everton](https://www.claretandhugh.info/everton-football-club-bio/) boss’s abilities — but the fact he’s a competent coach taking charge of a decent group of players is enough to make me worry.

It was interesting listening to Dyche’s appointment being discussed on the radio earlier today. One line stood out: they said of him that he can “organise a defence.”

### Nuno Must Find His Own Formula Fast

Ironically, those are precisely the qualities that attracted West Ham to Nuno Espirito Santo in the first place. Perhaps last night’s defeat to Brentford was just a tactical one-off from Nuno — I certainly hope so.

West Ham’s manager needs to get back to the basics: playing his best players in their correct positions. It’s simple stuff, ordinarily, but after last night’s selections, who knows what’s going through his mind.

Still, Dyche’s appointment at Forest could mean there’s now one less relegation rival for the Hammers — or, depending on how things go, one more team ready to climb above us.
