If the Dallas Cowboys don't have the best offense in the NFL (the Indianapolis Colts are a sneaky juggernaut right now), they undoubtedly have the second-best. The offense looked unstoppable with CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin back healthy in Sunday's win against the Commanders, which turned into a blowout in the third quarter.
The Cowboys are currently on the periphery of the NFC playoff picture, but they are primed to push for playoff contention if Jerry Jones pushes to improve the roster before the November 4 trade deadline. While the defense performed better than expected in the win, it still needs better players in the first and second levels.
A new linebacker and defensive linemen would move mountains, and a perfect target - Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson - has just about had it with his team. Johnson tweeted his frustration after New York lost 13-7 to the Panthers to drop to 0-7 on the season.
Cowboys should absolutely consider a Jermaine Johnson trade amid Jets' collapse
Laying it all out there man… something gotta give

Throwing your offense under the bus on social media is the next closest thing to requesting a trade.
The Cowboys' pass rush got home a lot against the Commanders, racking up four sacks and six quarterback hits while forcing a number of errant throws. It was a sight for sore eyes, and Matt Eberflus deserves credit for dialing up for five-man pressures.
However, this defensive front still can't generate pressure with four-man rush. Jayden Daniels had a cup of coffee dropping back to pass whenever Dallas rushed four. They need a difference maker, even if it means reducing snaps for former second-round picks Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland.

Johnson is one of the more underrated EDGE defenders in the league. He's someone the Jets should absolutely keep around, but NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has reported that Johnson, a first-round pick of New York's previous regime, could be one of the players they shop for future assets.
A plus run defender, Johnson made a Pro Bowl as a second-year player in 2023. He missed all but two games last season with a torn Achilles but he's bounced back nicely in 2025, compiling nine pressures, seven defensive stops, two quarterback hits and a 70.8 run-defense grade in four games, via PFF.
Johnson could be a building block along the edge for the Cowboys opposite budding rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku. The Florida State product is just 26 years old and Dallas would have control of him through the 2026 season assuming they pick up his fifth-year option.
The Cowboys could certainly use help at linebacker and defensive tackle, but a trade for Johnson should be on the table if the Jets mistakenly make him available. Dallas has gotten so little from Williams and Kneeland that it can't afford to keep trotting them out there in close games.
