Everton youngster Harrison Armstrong has so far impressed while on loan at Preston North End.
The teenager joined the Lancashire club on deadline day following Everton’s acquisition of Merlin Rohl.
Indeed, Moyes deliberated whether or not to integrate him into the first team this season. A standout performance against Mansfield Town in the League Cup raised expectations of the midfielder.
Providing both assists in a 2-0 win for the Toffees, the young lad impressed with an exceptionally mature display.
However, it was decided that a loan would be beneficial for his development.
It seems to have been the right decision, with the 18-year-old earning the praise of his manager and teammates.
PNE manager Paul Heckingbottom said of the Everton starlet: “He’s a driven lad, he puts expectation on himself.
“We know what he can do and, seeing what he could do even with Everton’s first team this season, we’ve got an expectation of him as well and I was really pleased that we could get him, because I think he’ll be a really, really good player for us this season.”
It is a sentiment echoed by Armstrong’s Preston teammates, with captain Ben Whiteman stating: “Harrison is going to be a top-quality player, he’s going to be a Premier League player.”
ARMSTRONG IS ONE TO WATCH FOR PNE THIS SEASON
Armstrong has already had a successful loan spell at Derby County last season, starting 11 Championship games.
He’s an incredibly exciting prospect and no doubt Moyes will be eagerly watching as he develops at Deepdale.
A season to play with freedom away from the pressures at Everton can only be beneficial to the lad.
However, there’s no doubt he’s ready for first team football and appears to have a mature head on his shoulders.
Perhaps we’ll see him starting for the Toffees at Hill Dickinson next year.
