Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has been handed a significant boost as Matty Cash is preparing to commit his long-term future to the Midlands outfit after reaching an agreement in principle over terms which will keep him at Villa Park until 2029, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.
The Villans came from behind to seal a win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, with Emiliano Buendia coming off the bench to grab the winner after Morgan Rogers had already cancelled out Rodrigo Bentancur's opener for the hosts, and they have turned their attention towards getting internal negotiations over the line.

Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle with Cash over a new contract, according to GMS sources, with the terms poised to keep him on the club's books until the summer of 2029 and also include an option to extend the deal by an additional 12 months.
The right-back has been among the first names on the team sheet this season and, having grabbed the Villans' first Premier League goal of the campaign with a long range strike against Sunderland last month, he played a key role in bagging all three points at Tottenham last time out.
GMS sources have been informed that Aston Villa are on the verge of announcing that Cash has put pen-to-paper after fruitful internal discussions have been held with his representatives and it has been decided that he should be rewarded for his performances.
Although the Poland international's current contract - which allows him to pocket up to £100,000-per-week when bonuses are triggered - is due to expire at the end of June 2027, the Villans were determined to convince him to commit his long-term future to the club instead of allowing him to tick into the final 18 months of his deal.
Aston Villa owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are also lining up a second behind-the-scenes agreement as they want to tie creative midfielder Rogers down to fresh terms to end speculation over a potential move away from the Midlands, GMS sources understand, but talks are not at an advanced stage.
Cash has been on the Villans' books since joining in 2020 from Nottingham Forest, where he enjoyed a fruitful spell after continuing his development with a loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge, and the 28-year-old has gone on to make himself a fan favourite in his current surroundings.
