Should I drop Mike Evans in fantasy? Buccaneers' WR injury update crushes outlook

Mike Evans had just made it back.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' future Hall of Fame WR missed three weeks with a hamstring injury before getting onto the field Monday night in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions.

Evans didn't last long, though.

He went down with an injury that was eventually determined to be a broken collarbone.

"He'll be out mostly toward the end of the year," head coach Todd Bowles said of Evans after the game. "We'll see what happens."

Evans also got a concussion on the play and had to be carted to the locker room after the second quarter collision.

It creates a problem for the Buccaneers, and also for those who have Evans in fantasy football.

Should I drop Mike Evans in fantasy football?

The first thing any Evans manager should do is see if he can be placed in an Injured Reserve spot on your roster.

If there's an IR opening and Evans is eligible, that's the way to go. It's a just in case maneuver, because it'd stink to have Evans come back and not have him available.

Otherwise, though, it's probably safe to drop Evans.

The broken collarbone injury often seems to last longer than the two-month timeline put onto Evans here, and even then, that's deep into the fantasy playoffs, which are going to be a lot tougher to make now without Evans.

In a single-season league, Evans is a drop you can make as soon as you find someone useful on the waiver wire. Just check those IR spots first, in case.
