49ers get injury update on starting quarterback Brock Purdy

The injuries continue to pile up for the San Francisco 49ers, but they still find ways to stack wins.

San Francisco has been hit hard on the defensive side of the ball, losing superstars Nick Bosa and Fred Warner to season-ending injuries. They had to start five rookies Sunday Night against the Atlanta Falcons.

But the offense is no different, with Brock Purdy having missed four games this season. His status for next week's game against the Houston Texans is in question, and he seems to be trending downwards.

Brock Purdy likely out another week

According to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network, Purdy is unlikely to suit up for the 49ers' matchup against the Texans, with Mac Jones getting his fifth start of the year.

"Apparently another week of Mac Jones as the starter, as the #49ers continue to make sure Brock Purdy is 100% healthy," wrote Rapaport in a post on X.

The Niners surely miss their starting quarterback, but the way Jones has been playing, they can afford to wait and make sure Purdy is fully healthy before getting him back under center.

In five starts for the injured Purdy, the former Alabama star has been steady for San Francisco, completing 67% of his passes for 1404 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Jones is also 4-1 in his games played.

With a vaunted Houston defense and pass rush on deck, it would've been irresponsible to start Purdy on his iffy toe injury.

The $265 million man will have an extra week to rest up before he has another shot at returning to the field.
