Liverpool trailed Manchester United for the majority of the Premier League contest after Bryan Mbeumo was the difference-maker in the first half at Anfield.
Following Bryan Mbeumo’s opener in the second minute, Liverpool were able to rally back in the 78th minute thanks to a tap-in from Cody Gakpo past Senne Lammens.
However, United ensured their win over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon after Harry Maguire netted a superb header following a sublime Bruno Fernandes assist.

However, the 22-year-old Slovenian forward, who arrived at Old Trafford in the summer, was surprisingly dropped to the bench for the trip to Anfield on Sunday.
United manager Ruben Amorim changed up his attacking line-up against Liverpool and played Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount in a front three.
Speaking in a newsletter for GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has said that Benjamin Sesko being dropped from the United XI was something that Amorim had planned.
“It was a tactical decision,” he said.
“There is no problem with Sesko, who remains a big part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.”

What Fabrizio Romano has heard about Man Utd’s stance on Benjamin Sesko after the striker’s arrival from RB Leipzig
Benjamin Sesko climbed off the bench against Liverpool in the second half after Red Devils boss Amorim withdrew United star Mason Mount in the 61st minute.
The former RB Leipzig striker didn’t score or pick up an assist against the Reds, but Sesko put in another solid shift for Amorim’s men in their sensational win.
Romano has claimed that Sesko has already made a big impression on United and the Slovenia international has a big role to play under Amorim at Old Trafford.
“Manchester United are very happy with his skills and his attitude,” he continued.
“He will be very important.”
United signed Sesko from German outfit RB Leipzig in August, with the Red Devils paying an initial transfer fee of £66.3m and agreeing to add-ons in the deal.
