Mike McDaniel Reveals Expectation For Tua Tagovailoa In Week 8

The Miami Dolphins will continue to start Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, at least for another game.

Head coach Mike McDaniel reaffirmed that Tagovailoa will be the starter against the Atlanta Falcons, and somewhat jokingly revealed what he expects in the Week 8 game.

“My expectation is that we don’t throw 10 picks,” McDaniel said.

That’s just how things are going in Miami right now.

There might not be much sympathy for Tagovailoa after he seemingly burned bridges with everybody in the organization with some pointed comments.

Also, given how McDaniel usually deals with the media, this response was on brand.

Tagovailoa threw three interceptions in the Week 7 loss to the Cleveland Browns, each one more questionable than the other.

Most of the Dolphins’ losses this season have been close, but their quarterback has been one of the primary reasons for their struggles.

In addition to his lack of awareness and accountability, Tagovailoa has been the weakest link on the field.

Even in the few instances when he’s been given a clean pocket, he’s underthrown or missed his receivers, and he continues to put the ball in harm’s way on almost every dropback.

McDaniel replaced Tagovailoa with Quinn Ewers against the Browns and could turn to the rookie again if things get out of hand against the Falcons.

Miami will be on the road to face a physical defense, and Tagovailoa could be in for another tough outing against Atlanta’s improved pass rush.

The bar is pretty low, so he could be fine as long as he doesn’t throw 10 interceptions.
