To say that this has been a tough season for Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans wouldn’t tell half of the story.
The veteran missed time with a hamstring injury, and he’s now looking at a much longer stint on the sidelines.
Evans sustained a broken clavicle in the Week 7 loss to the Detroit Lions and is expected to be out for most of the regular season.
With that in mind, insider Ari Meirov shared some more tough news for Evans’ fans.
“Mike Evans’ 1,000-yard receiving streak will end at 11 seasons, an NFL record to start a career and tied with Jerry Rice for the most ever. Evans is also in the final year of his contract. A difficult reality for one of the greats,” Meirov wrote on X.

That goes to show you how remarkable Evans’ career has been.
He accomplished something that has only been done twice, joining arguably the greatest pass catcher of all time.
The Bucs made sure to get him to 1,000 receiving yards on the last play of the 2024 regular season in one of the most wholesome moments in recent history.
Evans was able to get a contract to extend his days with the Bucs, and he’s made it clear that he wants to be with them for the remainder of his career.
So, there will always be a chance that they can bring him back on a team-friendly deal.
Maybe he can post another 1,000-yard season before retiring, but as things stand now, it’s not an encouraging picture for the greatest wide receiver in Buccaneers history.
