Knicks could be without two key players opening night after missing practice

According to the New York Post's Stefan Bondy, the New York Knicks could be without two key players ahead of Wednesday's opening night matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Mike Brown says Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson did not practice today," wrote Bondy in a post on X.

The Knicks may be shorthanded in their first contest of the season against their biggest threat in the East.

Knicks could be without Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson opening night

Bondy, who was in attendance at head coach Mike Brown's press conference, reported that Josh Hart is dealing with an injury and Mitchell Robinson is load managing.

"Mike Brown continues to say that Mitchell Robinson is not injured and it's load management," continued Bondy.

"Mike Brown sounded pessimistic about Josh Hart playing tomorrow, said he's in a different situation than Mitch and they're going to take their time with the back."

The injury Bondy is referring to is Hart's back injury suffered in an Abu Dhabi preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The former Villanova standout took a hard fall chasing after a loose ball.

As for Robinson, his lengthy injury history is concerning, and it seems Brown is going to be cautious all season long with the big man.

Considering just how dominant the longest tenured-Knick has been in the postseason, it makes sense to want to have him completely and 100% healthy by the time April rolls around.

But of course, to make the playoffs, you have to have a good regular season, and New York will look to start the season off with a win on opening night, with or without two key contributors.
