Chiefs' dominant showing vs. Raiders may cause Maxx Crosby to pack his bags

The Kansas City Chiefs have long dominated the AFC West while the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders fight for second-place. Although the Chiefs sputtered out of the gates this year, they are still the division champions until proven otherwise.

With Rashee Rice back in Week 7 against the Raiders, Kansas City practically sleepwalked to a 31-0 victory. This could have been even more lopsided had head coach Andy Reid not called off the dogs by the end of the third quarter.

Las Vegas is not entirely devoid of talent, but its inconsistency at the head coach and general manager positions has made life perilous for the franchise and fan base over the years. This emblematic defeat at the hands of the Chiefs may force them into some drastic changes.

Cowboys reportedly calling Raiders about Maxx Crosby after beatdown vs. Chiefs

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Tuesday, NFL reporter [Trey Wingo reported](https://x.com/wingoz/status/1980659529915433275) that the Dallas Cowboys made inquiries with the Raiders about potentially trading for star defensive end Maxx Crosby. Apparently, after watching Sunday's beatdown, Jerry Jones may think Las Vegas is desperate enough to trade its best player.

As crazy as it sounds, Jones may be right. It will likely take years for this Raiders team, in its current state, to be a legitimate contender. With Crosby still in his prime, Las Vegas could strike while the iron is hot and try to get a mountain of picks and rebuild the roster.

This would be great news for the Chiefs, as Crosby has made life difficult on Patrick Mahomes and the offense at times during his career. In 13 career matchups, despite a 2-11 record, Crosby has recorded 6.0 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 16 quarterback hits.

It would also be extra gratifying for Kansas City's dominant win to be the last straw for Las Vegas. Crosby did leave Sunday's game with an injury, but it doesn't seem to be a long-term one, so his value is still sky-high.

Trading him to the NFC would also be an added bonus, as the Chiefs may only have to face Crosby once every few years, as opposed to twice annually. It's not like Crosby is the difference between Kansas City beating the Raiders or not, but it may make life even easier.

While the Chiefs are hitting their stride and climbing back toward the top of the AFC West, their divisional rival is barely keeping its head above the water. Kansas City kicked the Raiders while they were already down, and Crosby may be packing his bags soon as a result.
