'People will never understand': Sean Dyche shares what some won't appreciate about the job he…

Newly appointed Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has recently claimed there’s something he did at Everton that is not appreciated the way it should be.

The difficult years of Farhad Moshiri’s tenure at the club can now be put behind Everton with the Friedkins now on Merseyside.

Dyche was not given a great deal of time to turn things around following the takeover last December.

It was clear that the Friedkins were keen to bring David Moyes back to the club to replace Dyche after what they saw in their opening weeks.

Simon Jordan has questioned Forest’s appointment of Dyche as he feels it is not a progressive move for the Tricky Trees.

Everton were fighting for their Premier League lives back in January when the 54-year-old was moved on.

However, he remains clear that there is something that not many will fully appreciate about his time at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche really proud of something he did at Everton

Dyche has recently praised Everton’s Michael Keane for his performances this season in the place of the injured Jarrad Branthwaite.

Moyes was able to extract a lot more from Dyche’s squad in the second half of last season.

Speaking to Tony Pulis on The Managers podcast, Dyche has backed the work he was able to pull off with the Toffees.

“I’ve got great pride in what we did. Not just me, but everyone. I said, people will never understand the truth of being in there when that happens and you have to deal with it and you have to,” said the 54-year-old.

“So, I said as a manager, I’ve got a massive amount of pride in what I did and my staff did at Everton Football Club.”

Dyche was eyed by Rangers in recent weeks before he was made Nottingham Forest’s replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

His time on Merseyside may not have won Dyche too many fans, but he is adamant that he was a success given the limitations he was working under.

David Moyes was fully backed in the summer

After the window shut, Moyes was left delighted with Everton’s transfer business, which saw a staggering nine players signed.

Dyche may well argue that he was not given the same level of support with Moshiri at the helm during his time at the club.

However, there is also an argument to be made that Dyche did not earn the trust of The Friedkin Group during their opening weeks at the club.

Opposition (after takeover) Result

Chelsea 0-0 (D)

Manchester City 1-1 (D)

Nottingham Forest 0-2 (L)

AFC Bournemouth 1-0 (L)

In the four games following the takeover, Dyche was only able to bring in four points for the Toffees in the Premier League.

Given he has spoken about his time on Merseyside, Dyche will face Everton twice in December where he will be looking to make a real statement with Forest.
