It’s trade season in the NFL, with the 2025 trade deadline set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. ET. Teams have already started making smaller moves, but fans are still hoping for a blockbuster deal.
Ahead of the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys made headlines by trading star EDGE rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Once the season began, team owner Jerry Jones hinted that the franchise could look to add another pass rusher.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, former ESPN host Trey Wingo posted on X that, according to his sources, the Cowboys have reached out to the Las Vegas Raiders about a potential deal for star EDGE Maxx Crosby.

Here is more on the Cowboys' rumored interest in Crosby.
Are the Cowboys trading for Maxx Crosby?
No, not yet. Wingo's report said that his sources said that the Cowboys have made inquiries with the Raiders about a possible Crosby deal. This would be pretty much step one in a trade for the player, so any kind of move is in the early stages.
Dallas could certainly still trade for Crosby ahead of the deadline on Tuesday, November 4, but no deal is agreed on at this time.

Maxx Crosby contract details
Crosby signed a four-year, $94 million contract extension ahead of the 2022 season, per Spotrac. The Raiders reworked the deal before the 2025 season, adding three years and $106.5 million. The star pass rusher is now under contract through the 2029 season.
If Las Vegas trades Crosby, the team would take on $18 million in dead cap this year and an additional $5.1 million in 2026. The edge rusher’s salaries for 2025 and 2026 are fully guaranteed, and his 2027 salary becomes guaranteed in March 2026.

Does Trey Wingo usually break NFL news?
Wingo is known for his tenure at ESPN, as a host for "Golic and Wingo," "SportsCenter," and "NFL Live." He was with the company from 1997-2020. After Wingo left, the company he joined as an investor for Pro Football Network. Now, he typically sticks to running his YouTube channel "Trey Wingo Presents."
Wingo is known to talk about news after it breaks, and he is not normally the one breaking it. This doesn't mean that the Cowboys ' interest in Crosby isn't real, but this would be a rarity for Wingo's typical role in the sports news landscape.
