Jets Owner Makes Resounding Statement On Aaron Glenn

The New York Jets are the lone winless team in the NFL after losing to the Carolina Panthers 13-6 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The offense has been a mess for most of the season, as coach Aaron Glenn decided to bench Justin Fields on Sunday and brought in Tyrod Taylor. After the game, Fields told reporters he was surprised by the decision, but will do what the team needs.

It is only the first season for Glenn as the coach of the Jets, but there are already rumblings and rumors about how much longer he will be the coach.

Owner Woody Johnson is the guy that is in charge of making that decision, and he told reporters on Tuesday that he is 100 percent behind Glenn as the coach.

"I do believe in Aaron [Glenn],” Johnson said at the fall owners meetings. “If I were a player, I'd respond to him, because he's the real deal."

In the NFL, things like that can always change, but right now, Glenn appears to still be the guy Johnson believes can get the Jets back to contending with.

Expectations weren’t extremely high for the offense heading into the season, but things have been worse than imagined. After scoring 32 points against the Pittsburgh Steelers, there was optimism that they could be a better than expected offense.

However, they have scored only more than 23 points in one other game, and have put up only 19 points in the last two weeks.

The defense has also had its struggles, which is more surprising at that is the side of the ball that Glenn has made his mark on as both a player and a coach.

The Jets currently rank 26th in points allowed (26.1 PPG) and 23rd stopping the run (129.3 yards per game).

It didn’t matter who was going to be the coach of the Jets this year, this wasn’t a team ready to compete for the playoffs. However, as bad as things were last season, they have gotten worse in many different areas thus far in 2025.

Right now, the Jets have to give Johnson and the fans something to be optimistic about. Glenn has the full support of Johnson, but if things don’t start getting better soon, then the owner might begin to change his mind.
