Dart, Flacco, Rodgers among fantasy football add/drops for Week 8

MIAMI, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Quarterbacks Jaxson Dart, Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers are among my fantasy football waiver wire priorities for Week 8.

Marquise Brown, Justice Hill, Isaiah Davis and the Indianapolis Colts defense/special teams are among my other targets.

A season-high six teams are on bye this week, which could result in many valuable players ended up on the waiver wire or as available free agents. Be sure to monitor your league's transactions to help improve your roster, while also ensuring you make adjustments based on potential lineup absences.

Mike Evans, Jayden Daniels, Nico Collins, Bryce Young and Darren Waller were among the players injured in Week 7. Their status should be monitored, as those injuries could impact other players on their teams.

Check out my full list of waiver wire targets below if you need replacement options for injured starters. Injuries, breakout performances and other factors have cleared the way for several players to warrant a spot on fantasy football team benches or maybe even in starting lineups.

Players from the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, who are on bye, should be benched, or dropped in some cases. My waiver wire priorities each carry an ownership percentage of 60% or less.

Here are my top players to add and top players to drop for Week 8:

QB | Joe Flacco, Andy Dalton; RB | Emanuel Wilson, Chris Rodriguez; WR | Marvin Mims Jr., Darnell Mooney, Xavier Legette; TE | Cade Otton; D/ST | New England Patriots; K | Will Reichard

TOP DROPS

QB | Justin Fields; RB | Kendre Miller; WR | Dontayvion Wicks; TE | Darren Waller; D/ST | Las Vegas Raiders; K | Daniel Carlson

QUARTERBACK

Jaxson Dart and Aaron Rodgers are my top quarterbacks to target off this week's waiver wire. Veteran Joe Flacco also should be considered as a streamer in Week 8.

Dart had his best statistical showing yet in Week 7, when he threw for 283 yards and three scores while also rushing for a touchdown. He ranked No. 5 among quarterbacks in fantasy points per game over the last four weeks.

This week, Dart and the New York Giants will take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who surrendered at least 300 passing yards and/or multiple touchdowns to quarterbacks in five of their last six games. I expect Dart to provide at least 250 passing yards and two scores as a Top-15 option.

Rodgers is set to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers into a matchup against one of his former teams, the Green Bay Packers, on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Rodgers tied his season-high with four touchdown passes and logged a season-best 249 passing yards in Week 7. He also totaled multiple touchdown passes in three of his last four appearances.

The Packers allowed more than 200 yards and at least two passing scores to quarterbacks in each of their last three games, with two of those matchups against Jacoby Brissett and Flacco. Rodgers has an outside shot of finishing the week as a low-end QB1.

RUNNING BACK

This week's running backs group doesn't feature an immediate starter, but could provide insurance or lottery-ticket style potential later in the season of other players get injured.

My favorite players from this group include Justice Hill, Isaiah Davis and Kyle Monangai. Hill continues to slowly eat into Derrick Henry's workload. While he isn't a threat to take the job, he could eventually reach RB2/flex value if Henry were to get injured.

Hill averaged a little over six touches per game over the last three weeks. He scored twice during that stretch.

Davis is in a similar position to Hill. He might not be able to steal the starting role from New York Jets running back Breece Hall, but he also is seeing close to a half-dozen touches per week since Week 4. Hall's name continues to swirl through trade rumors ahead of the NFL's November trade deadline. If Hall is traded, Davis would earn immediate RB2 value. Hall also sustained an ankle injury in Week 7, giving Davis a potential glance at similar value.

He is a must-own player for Hall stockholders, but also has standalone value.

WIDE RECEIVER

Marquise Brown provided WR2 value over the last four weeks, when he totaled 21 targets and 13 catches and found the end zone four times. This week, Brown and the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders allowed the seventh-most receiving yards per game to wide receivers so far this season. They just surrendered 110 and 82 yards, respectively, to Dallas Cowboys wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens in Week 7.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw at least three passing scores in three of his last four starts. I expect that streak to continue, with Brown getting several chances to find the end zone. He likely needs a score to provide WR2 value, but that seems probable during Mahomes' hot streak.

Kayshon Boutte scored in each of his last two appearances, including a two-score effort in Week 6. He drew three or fewest targets in five of his last six appearances, but is a decent boom-or-bust WR3 play in Week 8, when his New England Patriots face the Cleveland Browns.

TIGHT END

Juwan Johnson is my top tight end target for Week 8. The New Orleans Saints veteran logged a season-high 79 yards on five catches in Week 7. He drew an average of 6.2 targets per game so far this season, the sixth-highest total among tight ends.

This week, Johnson and the Saints will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game I expect to be high scoring. The Buccaneers allowed at least four catches to tight ends in each of their last five games. Look for Johnson to eclipse that total in this matchup. He could end up as a Top-10 play if he reaches the end zone for his second touchdown of the season.
