Maxx Crosby to Cowboys trade rumors a perfect excuse to revisit his Dallas high school stats

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3-1 and sit in second place in the NFC East. They are getting MVP-level play out of quarterback Dak Prescott, and the Cowboys offense is starting to emerge as one of the best in the NFL.

However, the defense still needs some work. They looked better in the 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders, but Washington was without several playmakers. As of Tuesday, the Cowboys are rumored to be potentially trading for Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. The NFL trade deadline is just two weeks away. Crosby has a link to Dallas, as he attended Colleyville Heritage High School, which is in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area.

How good was Maxx Crosby in high school?

Maxx Crosby was still a productive player at Colleyville HS, but he didn't have the type of numbers you would expect out of a four-time Pro Bowler in the NFL.

Granite, high school football in Texas is different than many other parts of the country, but Maxx Crosby didn't light up the stats page like you'd think.

According to his MaxPreps page, Crosby tallied 61 tackles and three sacks in his senior year back in 2014. Crosby was not a super high recruit coming out of high school, and ultimately went on to attend Eastern Michigan University.

However, he really started to shape up in college when, in 2017, he recorded 11 sacks and four forced fumbles. His final year at Eastern Michigan saw him tally 7.5 sacks and another four forced fumbles.

The Cowboys could really use a presence like Maxx Crosby on the defensive line to help the defense tally more sacks. Crosby has four sacks in just seven games this season. Dallas has eight sacks as a team in its first seven games.

This Crosby development will be a key storyline to follow in the NFL as the trade deadline approaches.
