Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry are a talented enough duo to guide the Golden State Warriors to remain competitive in the Western Conference.
However, trading for a young star who could assist the organization in the scoring department would be the best-case scenario for the Dubs this season.
Golden State of Mind’s Marc Delucchi recently urged the franchise to reunite Butler with a 25-year-old All-Star guard.
"Trading Kuminga, Hield, and a pair of first-round picks to Miami for Herro would give Steph his most dynamic scoring teammate since Kevin Durant left,” Delucchi wrote Tuesday.
“Herro’s familiarity with the Heat’s system and track record of success alongside Jimmy Butler make it even easier to envision the 25-year-old guard fitting in seamlessly on the offensive end.”
Herro competed alongside Butler in Miami for 5.5 seasons, reaching the Eastern Conference finals twice during that span.
Herro, a 2025 All-Star, enjoyed his most productive NBA season last season despite being in a chaotic environment early on (Butler and the Heat bumped heads on several occasions, resulting in an early February blockbuster trade).
The Kentucky product contributed 23.9 points and 5.5 assists per game, shooting 47.2% from the field and 37.5% from downtown.
Acquiring Herro from the Heat would allow the Warriors to stay afloat if Butler or Curry experienced an unfortunate injury.
When Curry suffered a Grade 1 calf strain in the Western Conference Semifinals, the franchise was doomed despite still having Butler at its disposal.
With Herro, a gifted 6-foot-5 shot maker, in the fold, the Dubs could keep an optimistic mindset following a devastating injury to one of their key contributors.
Golden State should closely monitor Herro’s situation in Miami this season.
