There was some excitement surrounding the New York Jets in 2025 due to the hiring of Aaron Glenn as head coach and the offseason acquisitions, including quarterback Justin Fields. However, New York is currently the worst team in football, with a record of 0-7.
With the trade deadline on the horizon, it would be wise for the Jets to be sellers and move on from a few players in exchange for draft capital in the future. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported six Jets players teams are keeping an eye on in potential trades ahead of the November 4 deadline.
"Teams are keeping an eye on the Jets ahead of the trade deadline: names being mentioned include Breece Hall, Quincy Williams, Jermaine Johnson II, Will McDonald IV, Michael Carter II, and Allen Lazard, among others, per sources," Schultz wrote on X.
Schultz also added a quote from a league source that summarizes New York's position on its roster ahead of the deadline.
There’s an element of trying to figure out who are Glenn’s guys and who aren’t. Remember when Detroit suddenly traded Hockenson? A building block from the last regime is not going to be a guaranteed building block in this one," a source said to Schultz.
Trading away veterans on expiring deals is always a logical course of action for a rebuilding team. New York has a few players who fit that bill, including wide receiver Allen Lazard, running back Breece Hall, and linebacker Quincy Williams.
Hall and Lazard have been involved in trade rumors since the offseason, so their departures feel inevitable. Williams is also set to hit free agency in the spring, so his time with the Jets could also be numbered.
Edge rushers Jermaine Johnson II and Will McDonald IV, along with cornerback Michael Carter II, still have multiple years on their contracts. However, with New York severely underperforming this year, anyone on the roster could be up for grabs for the Jets.
