Evan Ferguson had a miserable time at West Ham last season.

Graham Potter brought Ferguson to West Ham to try and revive his side’s fortunes in front of goal, but it did not work.

Ferguson failed to score a single goal for West Ham, in a total of eight appearances for the London Stadium outfit.

Now, the Irishman looks set to cause issues for his former club, as they try to fix the problem that he was a part of at the London Stadium.

Evan Ferguson could stall West Ham pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee

West Ham want to sign Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee in the winter transfer window, but they will face competition.

Alex Crook reported on 21 October that one of the sides interested in the Dutch forward, is AS Roma, who could send Ferguson back to Brighton to facilitate signing the 23-year-old.

Ferguson was dismal in his time with the Hammers, and the flop could come back to haunt them once again.

The numbers behind Ferguson’s grim West Ham career

Ferguson’s signing looked like a huge gamble at the time, as he was plagued by injuries before the move was made.

It proved to be just that, as he featured for a total of 151 minutes for the Irons, and did not ever contribute for the East London outfit.

He was one of the worst strikers in West Ham history

Potter could not get the best out of his former player

In the 2024/25 season, he notched just one goal, which was before he arrived at Rush Green, and he could not add to that tally.

He missed three big chances across the campaign, created just two big chances and had an average of just 8.3 touches per game, per Sofascore.

It was a truly abysmal effort and while there is still plenty of time for him to turn his career round, Hammers supporters will never want to see him anywhere near their club ever again.

Especially, if he costs them the chance to sign a new striker, to solve an issue that he contributed to.
