When asked about his desire to be traded, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers did not give the kind of diplomatic response you'd expect a player to give.
The Raiders held their first of two bye week practices on Tuesday and after the session Meyers was asked about a possible trade given all the rumors and speculation surrounding him.
Meyers gave about as direct an answer as any player ever has when asked the same question over the years and made it quite clear he wants out.
“I got no control over that. If I'm here, I'm here," Meyers said of the trade deadline, per ESPN's Ryan McFadden.
“Oh, for sure. But I'm a professional at the end of the day. I'm just trying to play good football," Meyers added when asked if he still wants to be traded.
Meyers has been wanting a trade out of Las Vegas since the offseason, when he and the Raiders couldn't agree on a contract extension, which prompted Meyers' trade request.
It makes all the sense in the world for the Raiders to trade Meyers, especially after his very public comment. After all, he's set to be a free agent next offseason and chances are he isn't going to be back.
Not to mention, the Raiders have zero chance to compete for even a playoff spot after what we've seen from Las Vegas over seven games.
Meyers' comment should be music to the ears of the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, three teams that are at or near the top of the list of those that need to add a wide receiver.
The Giants are operating without their No. 1 option, Malik Nabers, who suffered a torn ACL. That is particularly bad news because it hurts rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart's chances of succeeding, which in turn hurts the chances of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen keeping their jobs.
In Buffalo, the Bills haven't gotten the second-year leap they were hoping for out of wide receiver Keon Coleman and the team is lacking a true No. 1 option for quarterback Josh Allen as a result.
As for the Steelers, they have been in the wide receiver market since last season, when they didn't have an adequate No. 2 behind George Pickens.
Now, it's the same scenario for Pittsburgh in 2025, except it's DK Metcalf who needs a better running mate.
Meyers will no doubt be at the top of the list of available wide receivers as the trade deadline approaches. He's a four-time 800-yard receiver who eclipsed 1,000 yards in 2024.
Bear in mind, Meyers has produced those numbers with some of the most terrible quarterback situations over the years. He would easily be a huge upgrade for all three of the aforementioned teams.
