Pep Guardiola’s men made a bright start in Spain, coming close twice in quick succession inside the first three minutes, with Jeremy Doku’s shot being saved well by Luiz Junior, before Haaland headed wide from a promising position inside the box.

Our No.9 buried his next chance in the 17th minute, sweeping in after a superb passing move involving Savinho and Rico Lewis, with the latter crossing for Haaland to drill into the net for his 53rd Champions League goal in his 51st appearance in the competition.

The strike also means the Norwegian has got his name on the scoresheet in 12 successive matches for club and country, taking his overall tally to a remarkable 24 this term.

Shortly before the interval, we doubled the lead as the lively Savinho crossed expertly for captain Bernardo to accurately head into the corner from eight yards.

We controlled the game after the interval with Haaland coming close on multiple occasions to doubling his tally on the night, whilst the hosts clattered the post in the final few minutes through Tani Oluwaseyi’s header.

However, we remained professional and rigid at the back to claim the three points, meaning we have two wins and one draw from our opening three League Phase encounters.
