The Duke Blue Devils picked up a major recruiting win on Tuesday.
In the process, they beat out North Carolina and Kentucky for the son of an NBA All Star.
The latest Blue Devils commit: Bryson Howard.
He's the son of Josh Howard, who was an All Star small forward for the Dallas Mavericks. Pops played his college ball at Wake Forest and was the No. 29 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.
Bryson is a five-star wing who comes in at 6-foot-5 and plays lefty.
"I loved my visit to Duke," he told ESPN. "I spent a lot of time with the coaches and players. We went to Coach Scheyer's house for dinner, and it felt like home."
Howard shone brightly on the Nike EYBL circuit over the summer, putting up 19.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting a blistering 46.2% from 3-point range.
He wasn't ranked as a recruit at this time a year ago, and he's not a top-20 player in the Class of 2026.
Howard liked what he saw on an official visit to Durham last month.
"When I attended practice, I saw that their style of play fits my game," he told ESPN. "The practice was very positive and full of energy, with a pace that was up and down. Coach Scheyer believes I will thrive in his system."
Duke has had the No. 1 recruiting class in each of the past two cycles. Howard is a good start toward potentially doing that again.
