It was a difficult first half for City after we found ourselves two goals behind come the break.
Mauro Roca Martinez gave Villarreal the lead despite Ben Wilkinson’s side enjoying more of the ball in the early exchanges.

After Divine Mukasa failed to draw City level from the penalty spot a few minutes later, Jose Angel Gaitan Diaz doubled the home side’s lead, which left our young boys in blue with a difficult task ahead.
Mukasa halved the deficit just after the hour mark. His fine solo run inside the opposition’s box saw him carve out a sliver of space, which allowed him to dispatch his shot in the far corner.
But, despite City’s constant pressure for the remainder of the game, we were unable to find an equaliser as we fell to our first Youth League defeat of 2025/26.
