Jaxson Dart has seemed to breathe new life into the New York Giants since taking over for Russell Wilson at quarterback.
While it’s unclear what kind of career the rookie will have, he’s already reminding an NFL analyst of Tom Brady.
“I like when they score touchdowns, he comes off the sideline and he’s swearing and cussing and, ‘Let’s f’in go.’ And you can see the team rallying around him,” Chris Simms said on “Up & Adams.” “That’s what makes great quarterbacks great.”
“What do you think everybody loved Tom Brady in New England for? He’d come off the field and be like, ‘Yes, let’s give it to these m-fers. And the team was like, ‘Yeah! That’s right,’” he continued. “It energizes the sideline, and that’s what he’s doing for the sideline.”
An animated Brady was often seen after touchdowns and on the sidelines hyping his team up or trying to get them back on track during a game.
In three starts, Dart has led the Giants to two wins, including a stunning upset of the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6. There likely will be no recreating what Brady did over his 23 years in the NFL, but being compared to arguably the league’s greatest quarterback in any capacity is a high compliment.
“His leadership and his approach to the game, emotionally and everything that way, is awesome,” Simms said. “I don’t know how people can hate on him when the whole locker room loves him and they’re rallying around the guy.”
The. Giants are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Denver Broncos, but havea chance to beat the Eagles for the second time this season in Week 8.
