The New York Knicks don’t have room to keep every player they were intrigued enough with to offer a contract to, making it only a matter of time before roster cuts became inevitable for the franchise.
Last Thursday, a 21-year-old guard from France was waived by the Knicks 56 minutes after signing an Exhibit 10 deal.
“New York Knicks Waive Adama Bal,” the Knicks’ PR team stated on X/Twitter.
Bal was highly productive with Santa Clara before entering the NBA Draft, averaging 14.4 points as a junior and 12.9 points as a senior (it’s worth noting he shot above 35% from three during both campaigns).
Bal, who went undrafted in 2025 after making two consecutive All-WCC first-team selections as a member of the Broncos, didn’t hesitate to sign a deal with a well-known overseas club on the first day of July (Sig Strasbourg-LNB Pro A, but didn’t appear in a game with the club).
After getting waived by the Knicks last week, Bal shouldn’t be surprised to officially start his first professional season with New York’s G-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks.
Bal, like every other Exhibit 10 signee, is eligible to earn a bonus of up to $85,000 if he remains with Westchester for at least 60 days, which should serve as a motivator for the 6-foot-7 rookie.
