According to Chris Rosvoglou of The Spun:
The Atlanta Police Department arrested a man named Billy Cagle for allegedly threatening to shoot up the airport. His family alerted the authorities about his social media activity before he entered a terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. According to the authorities, the 49-year-old from Georgia was in possession of a semi-automatic assault rifle.
The Atlanta police described Cagle as a felon with “mental health challenges.” He has officially been charged with terroristic threats among other counts.
On Tuesday afternoon, ESPN’s Seth Wickersham revealed that he nearly walked towards the felon’s truck as he was leaving the airport. He thought it was his driver, but thankfully he was alerted to stay where he was.

“When I landed in Atlanta yesterday morning, I exited the South Terminal to meet my ride. I was waiting for a white SUV, so I looked left and saw a white truck oddly parked in an area closed for construction. I started to walk that way but my driver told me to wait because of traffic,” Wickersham wrote on Instagram.
“I had no idea that, per police, the man who parked it is ‘a felon who has mental health challenges, … who has been charged with terroristic threats and criminal attempt to commit aggravated assaults, among other counts.’
I had no idea that an AR-15 was in the back, and that the suspect was being apprehended that minute inside the terminal after his family alerted police that the suspect had been streaming on social media Monday morning that he was headed to the airport to “shoot it up.”
I had no idea that if he’d returned to retrieve his machine gun, as police suspected he was doing, I would have been among the easiest targets. I’m grateful for his family and for authorities that I’m here to write about how easily these tragedies can and do happen.”
