Michael Jordan wishes he could play in the NBA today

Michael Jordan is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. His NBA career was a bit short by modern standards, but unmatched in terms of achievements and dominance. MJ won six championships, six Finals MVP awards, and five MVP awards, among other notable accolades.

Since his retirement, the GOAT has been mostly out of the basketball scene. His media appearances are sporadic, barring the incredible Last Dance documentary on Netflix in 2020. That’s why fans were so excited that he would appear to provide insights about the NBA on NBC. But it seems that Air Jordan would rather actually still be out there.

“Love it like you wouldn’t believe,” Jordan said when he was asked if he still loves the game. “I wish I could take a magic pill, put on shorts, and go out and play the game of basketball today. Because that’s who I am. That type of competition, that type of competitiveness, is what I live for.

“And I miss it… But it’s better for me to be sitting here and talking to you as opposed to popping my Achilles and be in a wheelchair for a while.”

MJ is 62, but if anyone could find a way to play at the highest level at that age, it would be him. The Chicago Bulls man retired with 10 scoring titles to his name, so surely he could find a way to score some points still. Well, even if fans can’t enjoy MJ on the court, his point of view will be incredible to listen to throughout the year.
