The Lakers are set to open their season without star LeBron James, who, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, won’t play until mid-November due to sciatica. They’ll be looking to build off their third-place finish in the Western Conference last season with a 50-32 record. They suffered an upset to the No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs in five games.
The Warriors finished seventh overall in the Western Conference last season with a 48-34 record. They pulled off a huge upset over the No. 2 Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. However, they were eliminated in the second round by the No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves, as they were without Steph Curry due to an injury for most of the series.
This game will serve as the second in the NBA Opening Night’s doubleheader following the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. the Houston Rockets. Both games will be broadcast on NBC.
