Bruno Guimaraes has sent a key message following Newcastle United’s emphatic Champions League win over Benfica.
Eddie Howe’s side have now won back-to-back European games, with Newcastle United beating Benfica 3-0 at St James’ Park.
It ended up being a comfortable night for the Magpies, with Anthony Gordon playing brilliantly. He was Newcastle’s best player, scoring the opener before Harvey Barnes provided a second half brace.
Bruno Guimaraes will be happy with his performance too, with the captain receiving a standing ovation from supporters before being replaced by Joe Willock in the 90th minute.

Bruno Guimaraes thinks Newcastle United were back to their best vs Benfica
It was a much-needed victory following Newcastle’s loss to Brighton in the Premier League, and Bruno felt he and his teammates were much more like their usual selves against Benfica.
Following the Magpies’ latest Champions League victory, the Brazil international took to his official Instagram account to deliver his verdict on what was a great night for Newcastle United.
“A victory that feels so good,” he wrote.
“This is the NUFC I know. What an incredible atmosphere. Howay the lads!”

The 27-year-old provided one of the most important touches in the first half, playing a beautiful pass in behind for Jacob Murphy. The winger then did the rest, putting it on a plate for Gordon to break the deadlock.
While that was a memorable moment from Bruno, there was one instance he would like to forget. The midfielder was the victim of a nutmeg during the first half, with one of the Benfica players cleverly knocking the ball through Bruno’s legs.
Not one to be shown up, Bruno got revenge in the second half. He did the same thing to a Benfica player after half-time, resulting in a huge roar from the Toon Army. While Newcastle United fans love Bruno for his incredible passion, they are also dazzled by his flair.
He will be happy with his performance, as Newcastle aim to take momentum into Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham at St James’ Park.
