Marinakis source rubbishes Nottingham Forest claims – Manager not even contacted

Reports from Brazil continue to clash over Nottingham Forest’s supposed approach for Abel Ferreira.

Last week, [**ESPN Brazil**](https://sportwitness.co.uk/nottingham-forest-attempt-for-plan-a-manager-door-remains-open-if-ange-fails/) claimed the Premier League side offered the Palmeiras coach a job soon after sacking Nuno Espírito Santo. The outlet said Abel rejected the move because he preferred to stay in Brazil and renew his deal with Palmeiras.

Journalist Jorge Nicola, however, says that story is inaccurate. Speaking on his YouTube channel, as relayed by [**BolaVip**](https://br.bolavip.com/palmeiras/palmeiras-perdendo-abel-ferreira-para-o-nothingham-forest-e-negado-por-jorge-nicola?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter), he said Nottingham Forest never contacted Abel or his representatives.

Nicola explained that he spoke with a source close to Evangelos Marinakis, who confirmed the club never discussed the coach internally.

_“This person guaranteed me there wasn’t even a consultation about Abel Ferreira. We have two opposite sides: the coach’s camp claiming he was approached, and Nottingham Forest executives denying it,”_ Nicola said.

He added that Nottingham Forest acted fast after parting ways with Nuno. The club hired Ange Postecoglou just hours later, suggesting they already had a replacement in mind. The Australian’s tenure, though, ended after only 39 days, with Sean Dyche taking over this week.

The conflicting stories leave uncertainty about what truly happened. Still, the continued mentions of Abel Ferreira show how often Forest are linked with top Brazilian coaches.
