The Sun reveal how Chelsea really feel about young star Josh Acheampong

Josh Acheampong is expected to continue to grow at Chelsea, and is seen as a player who can develop into one of the best in the world in his position according to reports.

The 19-year-old is a product of Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy, and was promoted to the first team squad last season.

Acheampong scored his first Chelsea goal against Nottingham Forest, and has a chance to cement himself as a regular starter this season.

Chelsea turned down interest in Acheampong from Borussia Dortmund, and it’s a good thing they did, because he’s gone from strength to strength this season.

Centre back has been an issue for the Blues with Levi Colwill suffering an ACL injury before the start of the campaign, and Benoit Badiashile sidelined until December having only just returned from injury.

Acheampong has stepped into the void, and has made five appearances in all competitions so far, with four of those in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca has stated on many occasions how highly he rates Acheampong, and The Sun have reported the youngster is expected to continue to grow at Chelsea in all aspects.

The report adds Acheampong is seen as a player who can develop into one of the best in the world in his position.

Chelsea keep producing top defenders

Chelsea’s Cobham academy is known for producing top players, but they really seem to have a knack for producing defenders.

Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah and Colwill are part of the first team, whilst Acheampong is now starting to establish himself.
