Leeds United are not scoring enough goals at the moment to pull themselves away from the prospect of a relegation dogfight. They are creating chances, but their forwards have been unable to convert them, and it has already cost them several points this season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who joined Leeds on a free transfer in the summer, has earned praise for the way he has led the line as the team’s number 9. However, he has missed a few very good chances and has scored just once in the Premier League this term.

Leeds are expected to address their forward line in the winter window, and have plans to bring in a new winger and an attacking midfielder in January.
However, the club may need one more striker option in their squad for the second half of the season, and one of their summer targets is likely to be sold in the winter transfer window.
Everton ready to sell Leeds United target Beto
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has admitted that Everton boss David Moyes wants to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
He stressed that Beto is likely to be moved on as he is not consistent enough for what Moyes wants from his number 9, and the Everton boss cannot magically improve that.
Brown insisted that Everton will definitely try to replace Beto in the winter transfer window as long as they can find a striker who makes financial and sporting sense.
“To put it bluntly, he’s not good enough”, he told Football Insider.
“Every now and then, he raises his game a little bit, makes a couple of good runs and gets a couple of goals, but overall, he simply isn’t good enough.
“David Moyes can’t wave a magic wand and make him into the perfect striker, and the problem with bringing somebody in is the amount of money you have to spend.
“So they have to work hard to identify somebody who might be available and for the right price.
“Moyes is doing what he can to get the best out of this team, but there’s no doubt he needs a striker who is going to guarantee him a regular source of goals.
“If they can find the right option, it’s something they have to go for because at the moment they’re going to win a few games and they’re going to lose a few games, but they won’t be able to do anything in terms of pushing forward with this squad.”
Beto is a similar profile to Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Farke has persisted with Calvert-Lewin despite his goalscoring woes because of the physicality he brings to the team and the way he leads the line for his team.
Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe cannot do what the former Everton striker does for Farke’s team, and that has kept him in the starting eleven this season.
Leeds may want to sign a striker of a similar profile in January, allowing Farke to have the option of benching or resting Calvert-Lewin in the second half of the season.
Beto is the kind of striker Leeds may want to look at again after they considered signing him in the summer transfer window.
Calvert-Lewin and his former Everton teammate are similar strikers because of their physicality and the way they can impose themselves on opposition centre-backs.
Beto is an even bigger aerial threat and touches the ball more in the opposition box than Calvert-Lewin while bringing the same level of physical threat.
They are both not scoring enough goals at the moment. However, Leeds may not have the funds to bring in a prolific goalscorer, and Beto could be the more financially viable option who suits the team’s needs.
