Alan Shearer is impressed with Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong and believes he’s getting better with every game he plays.
Acheampong was promoted to the first squad by Enzo Maresca last season, and is a product of Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy.
The 19-year-old was part of the squad which won the Conference League and Club World Cup, and now has a chance to push on this season.

Chelsea have had problems at centre back this season, especially after losing Levi Colwill to an ACL injury before the season started.
Benoit Badiashile had shown some positive form, but he’s injured again and isn’t expected to return until December.

This has handed Acheampong an opportunity, and he’s made five appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Chelsea turned down interest from Borussia Dortmund in Acheampong, and he’s got an opportunity to establish himself as a regular starter.
Acheampong scored his first Chelsea goal against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, and Shearer believes he’s getting better with every game as he explained why he named him in his team of the week.
“Scored the opener, his first goal for Chelsea, and played a big part in his team’s first away clean sheet of the season,” he told the Premier League’s official website.
“He’s getting better with every game.”

Acheampong will be hoping he’s handed another start against Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday, to further consolidate his position as one of Chelsea’s first choice centre backs.
However, competition is fierce and it will be interesting to see what decision Maresca ends up making, but fans will want to see the England under-21 international get a run in the side.
