Chelsea fans have the same worry about Dastan Satpaev after Champions League display

Chelsea supporters were not impressed after watching Dastan Satpaev play for Kairat Almaty in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Dastan Satpaev, 17, was part of a Kairat side that was held to a goalless draw by Pafos in the league phase of the Champions League, even though the latter went down to 10 men inside the opening five minutes.

Satpaev officially joins Chelsea next summer to become another rising star at Stamford Bridge. In the meantime, Blues fans are keeping a close eye on how the teenage forward performs for the Kazakhstan club.

The young talent has scored 17 goals in 39 career appearances in the Kairat first team. However, he’s yet to get off the mark in this season’s group phase against Pafos, Real Madrid or Sporting CP.

Chelsea fans don’t think Kairat Almaty are good enough for Dastan Satpaev

After Kairat’s underwhelming 0-0 draw against Pafos, Chelsea supporters on X suggested that Satpaev’s development is being negatively impacted by his current team.

One fan wrote: “Those Kairat players are so far below Satpaev’s level it’s crazy. We see what he does when he gets in a scoring position, he just needs teammates that actually give him those chances (and finish the chances he provides them).”

“Satpaev has to go on loan before Chelsea. Most of their players’ decision-making is horrible going forward,” another posted.

Every team's tactic when they have a star player:

"Pass the ball to the star player."

One supporter stated: “Dastan Satpaev plays with some serious dross – a severe lack of ability to do even the basics in this Kairat team.”

“We need to save Satpaev,” another claimed.

Finally, one fan said: “Watching the Kairat game, and I feel bad for Satpaev because his teammates are awful and cannot create a chance to save their lives.”

In fairness, Satpaev is still very much a work in progress, so playing regular first-team football at a Champions League side should be a great experience. In terms of next year, Chelsea will then be able to judge what level he’s currently at.

Pafos, who were inspired by David Luiz in defence, were able to frustrate Kairat and Satpaev in midweek.
