Man City fan found dead in Spain just hours before Champions League clash with Villarreal

A beloved Manchester City supporter, who had journeyed to Spain to watch his team play, was tragically found dead just hours before the match.

Guy Bradshaw, a 35 year old die-hard Blues fan, had travelled to Costa Blanca for City's Champions League clash against Villarreal on Tuesday night. Like many of the travelling Blues supporters, Guy chose to stay in the popular tourist hotspot of Benidorm, situated about 130 miles away.

However, in a heartbreaking turn of events, Guy was discovered lifeless in bed by a mate at the flat he was staying at in the early hours of Tuesday morning (October 21).

Family members have since paid heartfelt tributes to the father-of-one from Wythenshawe, with shocked fellow fans also expressing their condolences, reports [the Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/manchester-city-fan-35-found-32723740).

The cause of Guy's death remains unconfirmed, but his cousin Jess Bradshaw, 26, told the Manchester Evening News that the family has been informed there are 'no suspicious circumstances'.

Jess revealed that Guy's dad Martin, 56, was scheduled to fly out and join Guy for the game. "It's just so tragic that he ended up going to identify his body instead," Jess said.

Just hours prior, Guy had shared a video on social media featuring Ricky Hatton's son Campbell Hatton, where they were both joyfully singing 'there's only one Ricky Hatton.'

Guy, an alumnus of Parklands High School and Ringway Primary School who ran his own carpet cleaning venture, is survived by his 11 year old daughter, his mother Jeanette, twin brother Kane, and younger brother Zak.

His cousin Jess painted a picture of Guy as a 'gentle' soul who 'worshipped his daughter' and was a die-hard Manchester City fan. "He was a well-known figure in Wythenshawe, and among City fans," she shared.

"He was truly gentle, kind-hearted, and caring. He never courted trouble or made enemies. His life revolved around City and his young daughter, whom he absolutely adored."

Jess revealed that his untimely passing has left the entire family feeling 'hollow'. "We're utterly shell-shocked, given his tender age," she expressed.

"He was a fit lad. The whole family is simply heartbroken."

She also disclosed that the trip was a last-minute plan and Guy overlooked booking travel insurance, leaving the family with a daunting bill to bring his body back to the UK.

A spokesperson for Manchester City took to social media on X day, expressing: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Guy Bradshaw, a City supporter who tragically died in Spain before the Club's match against Villarreal last night.

"Everyone at the Club extends their deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and fellow supporters during this challenging time. Once a Blue, Always a Blue."

An outpouring of tributes also swamped social media, with a fundraising page established to support Guy's family here.

One mate posted on X, previously known as Twitter,: "RIP to the biggest blue there ever was! Guy Bradshaw Followed the club over land and sea all his life and through the lower divisions when we were younger.

"Absolutely gutted for his family and especially his young daughter. Rest in peace mate."

Another friend shared on Facebook: "Devastated to hear the passing of Guy Bradshaw whilst away watching the Blues. Top lad, worked with him a few years back and used to see him at matches. My thoughts are with your family pal."

While a third expressed: "What sad news to wake up to. You was only doing what you do best, following City everywhere. Thinking of the family."
