NFL and college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit often travels with his dog, Peter, who everyone seems to love.
However, Herbstreit and Peter recently received some backlash ahead of the Steelers vs. Bengals game last Thursday night.
Kirk Herbstreit posted a video on X of Peter playing fetch last Wednesday at a hotel in Cincinnati. The video was accompanied by a message from Herbstreit.
“Made to the hotel in Cincy and Peter getting ready for some @NFLonPrime. A lot of energy #Peter," he said.
Needless to say, fans did not appreciate that Herbstreit had his dog off of a leash and running up and down the hall of a hotel.
"Look Kirk, we in Cincinnati appreciate you and we still have Ben in our hearts, but this is getting out of hand,“ one fan said. ”No dog should ever be off a leash, let alone running around freely in a hotel hallway. Some people are allergic, some people have been attacked. Do better."
Another added: “The folks staying on that floor must love you. How obnoxious."
While there were plenty of negative comments directed at Herbstreit, he did receive some positive ones.
"Omg I am in love with Peter. Just a good boy!" a fan said.
As for the actual game, the Bengals earned a 33-31 upset victory over the Steelers on Prime Video. Herbstreit was on the call, before heading to ESPN College GameDay in Athens, Georgia for the Ole Miss vs. Georgia game this past Saturday.
