Manchester United are currently riding the high of a recent win against Liverpool in the Premier League as they will hope to maintain this consistency in the upcoming matches.
However, the Red Devils also have another eye in their future planning as the management seem to back manager Ruben Amorim for the next few years despite the early hiccups this season.
According to reports via Daily Star, Manchester United have shown interest in signing Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who would be available for free next summer after his current contract expires.
Barcelona have the option to extend his contract by another year but as per reports, it is unlikely that the Blaugrana may trigger that clause as they are already planning for his succession.
Lewandowski, who celebrated his 37th birthday this summer hasn't been at his best this season with some injury concerns and fluctuating form.
However, the Polish striker has found the net four times in nine appearances this season, proving that he still has those goalscoring instincts to flourish in any setup in Europe.

But considering Hansi Flick's physically demanding style of play, many believe that Lewandowski lacks the sharpness and hence they are uninterested in extending the striker's contract.
Lewandowski nearly joined Man United in 2012
Lewandowski was one of United's targets back in 2012 as former manager Alex Ferguson saw his potential.
But the move fell through as Borussia Dortmund were not interested in selling him despite the Polish striker's approval to the move.

Eventually he moved to Bayern Munich on a free transfer and went on win multiple titles with the German giants.
"To Manchester United I decided and said yes," Lewandowski told BBC Sport. "I wanted to join Manchester United, to see Alex Ferguson."
"Dortmund could not sell me. Because they knew if I stayed they could earn more money, and that I could wait maybe one or two more years.
"But it is true that I said yes to Manchester United."
Therefore, an eventual move to Old Trafford after so many years won't be the worst thing for all the parties.
Lewandowski's goalscoring records state that he is far from done at the top level in Europe and with his experience and skillset, he could be the ideal player to groom Benjamin Sesko whilst playing the second fiddle to the Slovenian.
