**Harvey Barnes came off the bench for Newcastle United last night to help himself to two more Champions League goals as the Magpies beat Benfica 3-0 at St James' Park.**
Barnes had already scored off the bench in the Champions League in the 4-0 win against Union Saint-Gilloise, which probably isn't helping him shake his 'super sub' moniker.
The former Leicester winger has an amazing eye for goal and proved it last night with two top-quality finishes against a really good goalkeeper, it has to be said.
Barnes spoke to TNT Sports at full-time and then to NUFC TV and made the same point in both cases, and it's one that Newcastle fans will definitely agree with.

Harvey Barnes was happy to see his side continue pushing for more goals
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Harvey Barnes noted that Newcastle kept pushing for more goals last night after admitting that they have been guilty of sitting back on 1-0 leads and getting punished for it.
> "I think they started the game well, they had good chances, I think we did as well. Our goal came at a good time.
>
> "We played well in the game, and I think it was good to see today that we were pushing for that second goal, third goal. We've been a bit guilty this season of sitting back when we've gone ahead, but you could see tonight that we were in full flow. We were going for the next goal, next goal, and I think that's when we're at our best, playing like that with the crowd behind us.
We don't know where this idea of protecting a one-goal lead even came from
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that it has been spoken about publicly by one of the players, Newcastle have no choice but to take heed and start trying to put games to bed rather than trying to protect a one-goal lead.
Of course, we have full faith in our defence, but we should never be playing for a 1-0 win anyway; we always want more.
We're not even sure why this was ever a thing for us. Eddie Howe has always wanted us to play attacking football and go in with a 'we're going to score one more than you' mentality, which is why his teams have been compared to Kevin Keegan's entertainers. We shouldn't be protecting 1-0 leads with defence; we should be protecting the leads by making them bigger.
