Chelsea have entered discussions to hand Moises Caicedo a more lucrative contract after the Stamford Bridge fan favourite has been the subject of interest from La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed on the latest episode of our Market Madness podcast.
The Blues were not afraid to splash the cash during the summer transfer window, with Joao Pedro being the most expensive acquisition thanks to completing a £60million switch from Brighton & Hove Albion in July, but head coach Enzo Maresca and influential figures behind the scenes have now turned their attention towards negotiating fresh terms with crucial members of the squad.
Caicedo, who has been described as 'world-class' by former Chelsea chief Graham Potter, is firmly in the west Londoners' sights as a key man they want to tie down to an improved deal ahead of Real Madrid and other admirers potentially attempting to lure him away from his current surroundings.
Blues Hold Discussions to Reward Caicedo With Deal
Chelsea's Moises Caicedo
Chelsea are in talks to reward Caicedo with a new deal, according to GMS sources, and influential figures behind the scenes are not fearful that he will look to embark on a fresh challenge even though he has walked away from his previous agent to be represented by family members with additional legal support.
The defensive-minded midfielder still has just shy of six years remaining on a contract which allows him to pocket up to £175,000-per-week when bonuses are triggered, while there is an option to extend the agreement by another 12 months, but there is determination to give him the opportunity to secure improved terms to reflect his importance to Maresca.
GMS sources have been informed that Chelsea will not necessarily add time to Caicedo's deal due to the length of the current agreement, despite enjoying a productive start to the campaign, and they may simply hand him more lucrative terms or include a new bonus structure.
Moises Caicedo's statistics for Chelsea this season
Although the Blues feel the Ecuador international joined on excellent money, befitting the fact he became the most expensive acquisition in British history by sealing a £115million move from Brighton in August 2023, the west Londoners want to give him the chance to put pen-to-paper.
It is a decision that Chelsea made before Caicedo opted to change representatives, GMS sources have learned, and his choice to get family members involved should not be viewed as him looking to head through the exit door as the transfer window edges closer.

GMS sources have been told by those close to Caicedo that he is not looking to leave Chelsea even though Real Madrid have been linked with making a move for his signature, while the Stamford Bridge hierarchy will not listen to offers even if a proposal which would allow them to make a significant profit is submitted.
The 23-year-old played a pivotal role in the Blues winning the UEFA Conference League last term, as well as clinching the Club World Cup during the summer, and Maresca is adamant that he cannot be sold as he is among the first names on the team sheet as well as being a popular member of the dressing room.
Chelsea have been holding internal conversations with Caicedo after he enjoyed a memorable 2024/25 campaign and has made an equally impressive start to the current season, GMS sources understand, and they are eager to find an agreement which will see him commit his future to the club.
