Pope has 10 England caps but hasn't played for the national side for three years, while Murphy has never received an international call-up.
But Gordon - who has established himself as a key figure in Tuchel's side - believes both of his [Newcastle](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/newcastleunited/?ref=ed_direct) teammates can play their way into World Cup contention.
Pope has enjoyed an outstanding start to the season, keeping his seventh clean sheet of the campaign in the 3-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and setting up the second goal with a stunning long throw into the path of Harvey Barnes.
"He's in the form of his life," said Gordon of the goalkeeper.
"That throw was outstanding, how he can throw that far is madness. I love my NFL and that was as good as anything I've seen in the NFL!
"But the first half is where he really, really shows his quality. He made two great saves to keep the scores level.
"We're great friends so I hope he's on the plane with me. It'd be lovely to be there with him and he's a top, top guy so he deserves everything he gets."

Murphy, meanwhile, enjoyed a career-best season last term, when he provided 14 assists in all competitions. Despite his sparkling form, Newcastle still opted to strengthen on the right side of the attack with the £55m arrival of Anthony Elanga.
But with the summer recruit having not yet found his feet on Tyneside, Murphy currently still looks Newcastle's best best on the right flank.
He started Tuesday night's Benfica win and set Newcastle on their way to a second Champions League success of the season with his assist for Gordon's opener. Murphy has only started five games this season but already has three assists.
Dan Burn was 32 when he received his first England call-up, and Gordon believes Murphy, 30, has all the tools to shine on the international stage.
"He's so underestimated as a player, honestly," said Gordon.
"He can do absolutely everything any winger can do in the Premier League. I don't know why he's so underestimated.
"I love playing with him, I just know he's going to play that ball every time so I can gamble and put my head down and run because I know it's going there so I can just tap it in.
"He's got everything you need to be at that level, he just needs a run of form, goals, assists for the manager to take notice of him.
"I'm sure he would have been in talks last year because he was one of the best, in-form wingers in the league so he just needs to keep doing what he's doing and the manager will take notice."
