According to journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1980985829863673954?t=FWDxQ6g4EQcrhzFYguohOw&s=19), former Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has agreed a deal to join Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca.
The move marks his first time of joining a Moroccan club, after spending his entire career in Europe and the Middle East.
Born in the Netherlands to Moroccan parents, he began his career with Dutch side Heerenveen but broke into limelight at Ajax.
Ziyech played a key role as Ajax reached the UEFA Champions League semi-final in the 2018/2019 season, scoring against Real Madrid in the round of 16 and Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final.
He officially joined Chelsea in the 2020/21 season and had a fast start to life with the west London club, scoring in his first two starts.
His remarkable start earned him the description of a ‘[magician](https://www.tntsports.co.uk/football/premier-league/2020-2021/magician-hakim-ziyech-the-one-who-can-turn-chelsea-from-nearly-men-to-title-challengers_sto7984196/story.shtml)‘ by TNT Sports as Chelsea began the Premier League in blistering form. He went on to win the Champions League in his first season with the Blues.
He scored against Villarreal to help Chelsea win the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the following campaign and featured in their FIFA Club World Cup triumph.
The Moroccan left Chelsea in 2023 for Galatasaray after suffering a dip in form. He stayed with the Turkish side for almost two seasons before joining Qatari outfit Al Duhail in January.
However, his stay with Al Duhail was short-lived, as he left the club after just five months following a mutual termination of his contract, leaving him as a free agent.
Wydad will hope Ziyech can rediscover his best form as they aim for their first top-flight and Continental triumphs since the 2021/22 season.
A successful spell with the Casablanca-based side could also earn him a recall into the national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
