Ex-Patriots WR ‘for sure’ wants to be traded from Tom Brady’s Raiders

Jakobi Meyers wants a fresh start.

The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver requested a trade in the offseason but nothing came to fruition. With the NFL trade deadline fast approaching, Meyers’ mindset remains the same.

“Oh, for sure,” he replied when asked if he still wanted to be traded. “I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, like I said, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”

Meyers is in the final year of his three-year contract and wants a new one. His trade request over the summer came after he and the Raiders couldn’t come to terms on an extension.

The former New England Patriots wideout enjoyed his best season in 2024 when he set career highs with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards.

The Raiders are 2-5 through their first seven games and sit in last place in the AFC West. Las Vegas must decide if it wants to extend Meyers, trade him or let him walk in free agency without a return like the Patriots did in 2022.

Despite the trade request, Meyers is focused on helping the Raiders for as long as he’s in black and silver.

“If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I got some real people that I care about next to me,” Meyers said. “So I’m trying to make sure I’m being my best self for them.”
