Jets fans think Aaron Glenn was fired because of a fake social media post

Despite the worst record in the NFL and a winless start to his New York Jets tenure, Aaron Glenn is not getting fired.

At least not yet.

A fake Instagram post has been circulating on the internet, saying Glenn was fired this week. That is obviously not the case, and evidently, the first-time head coach has the full support of his owner, as indicated by comments from owner Woody Johnson yesterday.

Did the Jets fire Aaron Glenn?

As of Oct. 22, the Jets have not fired coach Aaron Glenn.

The reason many believe Glenn has been fired is because of a viral post from @patrickwcutler_official, who posted a picture of Glenn with the word "fired" underneath him on Instagram.

"The New York Jets have fired head coach Aaron Glenn after an 0-7 start to the season," the satirical post read.

"'We expected to compete for Super Bowls starting this year, instead we’re the laughingstock of the league. We appreciate coach Glenn’s efforts, but encourage him to audition for the circus, as he is a complete clown of a head coach,' stated GM James T. Kimmel."

And no, the Jets' general manager isn't Jimmy Kimmel.

Despite fan grumblings and one of the worst starts to a season in New York history, Glenn has the backing of his owner amid his first time at the helm of an NFL franchise.

"I do believe in Aaron," Johnson said from Tuesday's NFL owners meetings.

"I've known Aaron since 1996 -- I was a fan, I've always been a fan of him. I see the way he handles a room. If I were a player, I would respond to him because he's the real deal."

Glenn still has time to turn things around in New York, and barring a complete 0-17 disaster, he'll likely get another shot in 2026 to bring a winning record to the Jets.
