Lakers fans sound the alarm on LeBron James' body language in loss to Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a disappointing home loss to the Golden State Warriors on opening night. Although LeBron James was sidelined with an injury, his presence — and demeanor — still drew plenty of attention.

Despite flashes of brilliance from Luka Dončić, who led the Lakers with 43 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists, fans and analysts couldn’t help but notice LeBron’s subdued body language on the bench.

Lakers insider Anthony Irwin noted that the chemistry between Dončić and James does not appear as strong as the partnership James once shared with Anthony Davis. While James isn’t expected to be the team’s most vocal sideline supporter, some observers criticized what they viewed as a lack of engagement.

Multiple social media clips showed James remaining seated and expressionless following several of Dončić’s highlight plays — including three and-one conversions that brought the Crypto.com Arena crowd to its feet.

Though it’s only the first game of the regular season, questions about James’ attitude and commitment have already begun circulating among Lakers fans. Reports last season suggested James was frustrated with the front office’s handling of the Dončić trade, and speculation about his future with the team has continued to simmer.

For now, Los Angeles will look to regroup before Friday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. If the Lakers’ performance against Golden State was any indication, they’ll need major adjustments to remain competitive in the Western Conference while James recovers.
