Nottingham Forest’s next European opponents, FC Porto, have had a day of mixed fortunes before travelling to England.
As reported by Maisfutebol, the Portuguese side’s flight to East Midlands Airport was delayed for about an hour after an unexpected inspection by Portugal’s Civil Aviation Authority.
There’s no further explanation of the reason.
The check took place at Porto’s Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport and forced the club to adjust their plans. Their Nottingham Forest pre-match press conference with Francesco Farioli and one player was originally scheduled for 7.30pm local time. It had to be pushed back to 8.30pm.
Despite the travel setback, there was also some positive news for Porto. Left-back Zaidu Sanusi has recovered from his injury and was cleared to join the travelling squad. His return strengthens Farioli’s defensive options ahead of Thursday’s clash at the City Ground.
Porto will arrive in England later on Wednesday evening and complete a light training session before facing Nottingham Forest. The Portuguese club are unbeaten in their last five games and will try to keep that run going against a Forest side that have shown resilience under Nuno Espírito Santo, particularly at home.
