The Washington Commanders are not having the sort of season they expected after going all the way to the NFC Championship in quarterback Jayden Daniels’ rookie campaign a season ago. The Commanders are a game under .500 at 3-4 and have had to stomach injury after injury to kep players.
Now, Washington has received more brutal injury news and will lose its ascendant quarterback for at least one game, according to one prominent league insider.
“Marcus Mariota will be Washington’s QB1 Monday night at Kansas City,” ESPN’s senior NFL insider [Adam Schefter reported on Monday.](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1981039697590628837)
This comes following news that [the hamstring injury Daniels suffered against the Dallas Cowboys was not severe.](https://thecomeback.com/nfl/jayden-daniels-hamstring-injury-fans-react.html)
“Commanders QB Jayden Daniels had an MRI on his hamstring and it is not considered a long term injury, per HC Dan Quinn. But his status for next Monday night vs. KC won’t be revealed until later this week,” Schefter reported earlier in the week.
Fans reacted to Mariota being named the starter on social media.
“Game over before it starts. Can’t imagine anyone outside those 2 fanbases would watch,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Big moment for Mariota chance to remind everyone he can still ball,” someone else added.
“No way the Commanders will win this game with Marcus Mariota,” one fan wrote.
It’ll be interesting to see how the game plan changes for the Commanders without Daniels leading the offense.
